In the early days of the pandemic, dire forecasts predicted our industry would slow to a stop. Instead, we witnessed something remarkable: American manufacturing not only persevered but thrived. As orders surged throughout 2020 and 2021, GTR Manufacturing reached volumes we had assumed weren’t physically possible in our facility, teaching us valuable lessons about scaling operations and maximizing production.
Today, both our customers and industry analysts expect another wave of growth in the near future. Some manufacturers are already warning their customers of capacity limitations—one of our clients recently heard from another supplier that “once things ramp up, don’t reach out because we’ll be at capacity.”
AT GTR Manufacturing, we take a different approach. Instead of focusing on limitations, we’ve spent the past several years expanding our facility and preparing to grow alongside you as a single-source manufacturing solution. Find out how the lessons we’ve learned during past booms have prepared us to support your growing production in the months ahead.
Preparing for High Demand: New Shop, New Acquisitions, and More
In 2021, we seized the opportunity to grow strategically, ensuring we could meet the needs of even our most ambitious customers.
- Increased Capacity: The most visible sign of our growth is our expanded footprint. We’ve doubled our manufacturing space to 104,000 square feet by both moving into a new building and acquiring other shops. This expansion gives us the physical capacity to take on more projects while maintaining efficiency and turnaround times.
- Enhanced Capabilities: Our physical growth is only the beginning. The acquisition of Sweeney Metal Fabricators and the opening of our new Prototyping facility broadened our strategic capabilities, while our electromechanical assembly department has grown from 2,000 square feet to 10,000 square feet to support increased demand for cables, harnesses, and box builds.
- Investing in People and Technology: We’ve also continued to invest in our workforce and our technology. Our skilled workforce can react quickly to large orders, and we’ve developed a system to scale hiring efficiently. On the technology side, we’ve spent years improving infrastructure from upgrading equipment to quoting software to boost operational capacity and accuracy at every level.
Fast, Flexible Scaling, All Under One Roof
Our growth over the past several years allows us to support your needs at any scale. Customers who need high-volume manufacturing are well suited to our main facility. Our Nashua facility provides sheet metal and machining production while our Prototyping facility offers rapid sheet metal prototyping.
This flexibility allows us to adapt quickly to changing production demands. We’ve built our operations specifically to handle rapid scaling, and our experience in volatile industries like semiconductors has taught us how to efficiently expand and contract to match customer needs.
