There are many forms of metal grinding and metal sanding, and GTR Manufacturing performs them all with perfection. Sometimes referred to as “time-saving,” metal sanding is generally used to remove burrs and scratches from mill stock material after it is punched or laser cut. In some cases, it’s used to change the original grain of the material to eliminate cracking during forming. Sanding also acts as a decorative finish and helps to plate and paint adhere better to the sheet metal parts. Both wet and dry sanding processes are available at our manufacturing facility. Dry sanding is more time-efficient and removes more material, while wet sanding is a better choice for our customers who are looking for a smooth finish.
In contrast, metal grinding traditionally removes welds, deburr metals, and creates smooth edges. Grinding also can be used to add cosmetic services to metal products, such as straight grain or orbital finishes. Both techniques are beneficial in the production of great-looking, quality parts.

We have the capability to import and unfold your 3D models ( .dwg, .step, .iges, .sldasm, .ldprt, .dxf) built in Solid Works, Pro/E, and other modeling software. The model is unfolded and downloaded directly into the CAM process, reducing errors and assisting in short lead times for your sheet metal parts.
JIT / KANBAN
By using the Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory strategy, GTR Manufacturing schedules production to meet your ordering needs. We reduce costs by carrying less idle inventory, resulting in a quality product that is delivered on time at a lower price.
We pair JIT with the Kanban technique to manage our highly-efficient development process. We establish minimum and maximum quantities, fulfilling customer needs on a pull system. This method empowers us to reduce inventory for customers and suppliers and uses lean production practices. In addition, we have full insight into your pipeline through an online portal, ensuring it’s always full.
