Quality Control and Certification
Quality Control
Here at GTR Manufacturing, we have a strict process of Quality Control in place. It is very important to us that every product is checked thoroughly and that any hiccups we run into with the product are smoothed out before we package and ship it to our customers. We want to supply you with the highest quality product possible so that it can go to market swiftly and seamlessly. With GTR Manufacturing, you will never have to worry about receiving a faulty or poorly made part; our Quality Control system makes sure of that!Â
See below for some of the controls we have in place!
Let’s start by talking about the Documentation and Design Controls we have in place.
Although we control documents and revisions, we do not control design as we do not do design. When you submit a part, our engineers will only recommend changes for manufacturability. Aside from that, we will make your product to the exact design you supply us with. We do have a First Piece/Article Process as well as Consigned Material control in place. This is performed to customer supplied requirements as needed.Â
We keep our purchasing very organized.
As a part of our MRP system, all Purchase Orders are numbered. There is also a system in place for Purchase Order Revision Control. Both help us stay on top of our purchase orders and make sure that our inventory is always well stocked. For confirmation and change verification approval, we have a contract review system.
Any changes will be documented and traced, making for zero confusion. Lastly, for our Supplier List, we utilize a control system for adding new suppliers and removing disqualified suppliers. It is important for us to keep our supplier list updated and accurate as we do not want to be getting low quality material from shady suppliers. We want only the best for our customers!
As it goes hand and hand with our suppliers, let’s talk about how we control our materials.
We have a multitude of controls and protections in place. These include Foreign Object Debris and Damage (FOD) Control, Electro-Static Damage/Discharge (ESD) Processing/Control, Shelf-Life Control, Non-Conforming Material Control, and more. All of these have controls and documented systems in place to ensure that our materials are handled properly and effectively.
One part of Material Control that we rely on suppliers for is Counterfeit/Fraudulent Product Control. We purchase customer specified parts through distributors, so we rely on our suppliers for control of authenticity of components and parts. GTR also has Storage, Package, and Handling requirements in place to make sure everything is properly handled to control their integrity. Last but not least, we have risk management requirements in place to address the mitigation/ elimination of risk as it relates to the delivery of the product.
It is always crucial to inspect, test, and measure every part we produce before it is packaged and shipped out the door.
That is why at GTR Manufacturing, we have systems and checkpoints in place for all of this. To ensure that our measurements and tests are accurate, all equipment is calibrated by either an approved accredited laboratory or is calibrated in-house.
Accepted lots are inspected and these results are documented. It is important to us to document these results as we do not want to waste time with an accepted lot that has already been inspected. For our Tolerance Range Capability, we have a lot of different test equipment for inspections. These include TESA height gages, Virtek Laser QC High Speed Laser Inspection, calipers, and micrometers.Â
As everyone knows, mistakes are something you try your very best to avoid.
This is why we have a Preventive Action System in place that works to avoid these mishaps. But sometimes, something out of our sphere of control happens, and a mistake occurs. To deal with this, we have a Corrective Action System in place for external and internal corrective action. These 2 systems complement each other and help GTR mitigate any nuisances created from mistakes.
At GTR Manufacturing, we care about our earth and are grateful for all the opportunities it provides us with.
That is why we take part in multiple environmental initiatives to do our part in helping our planet thrive. This includes maintaining a large inventory of RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant material.
We can supply and special-order other RoHS compliant products as and when requested. For other initiatives such as ELV, REACH, DFARS, and Conflict Minerals, we can also supply compliant materials as needed. It is important to us that we take the correct steps and do not engage in any malpractice or utilize any hazardous materials that would hurt our planet.Â
Because of the nature of our business, we do not have practices such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Process Stability/CPK in place.
We do not have a standard product line; we produce based on the design of the customer meaning there are too many variants for customer specific custom jobs. Because of this, these practices are not able to be implemented into our business. But, we have other controls to keep our process in check.
Our Work Instructions/Routings we have in place give Job Travelers special routes and/or instructions to make sure we know what stage the product is at in the manufacturing process. It helps keep the process organized and efficient.
As we are always trying to become a better, more efficient company, GTR has systems for continuous improvement in place. We collect performance metrics which are reviewed and used to improve our processes. This is important because performance metrics give us a great idea of what we are doing well and what needs to be worked on. Without this, it would be a lot more difficult to become a more efficient company. Â
